RS Sales & Distribution - Goods Inwards Procedure
The following procedures are in place at RS Sales & Distribution to ensure our Operational, Health & Safety and Security standards are met.
Booking In
1. All deliveries are to be booked in 48hrs prior to delivery day. All deliveries must be made Monday to Friday 08:30 to 17:00.
2. Bookings are to be made by e-mailing operations@rssales.co.uk or, if necessary, by telephone on 0800 849 4119 and select option 5.
Pallets - The following information is required: -
• Date and time of delivery
• RS SALES purchase order number
• Number of pallets to be delivered
• Shortages from order
If it is not possible to advise exact time of delivery then delays may occur although we will do our utmost to keep this to a minimum.
Parcels - The following information is required: -
• Expected delivery date
• RS SALES purchase order number
• Courier company name
• Number of boxes to be delivered
• Shortages from order
3. Any changes to the original delivery details are to be made by following the same procedure.
4. Deliveries will be refused if it has not been booked in or it arrives on an incorrect day.
Effecting Delivery
1. We request that all drivers are informed of the RS SALES GOODS INWARDS PROCEDURE in advance. Drivers must comply with these procedures at all times.
2. On arrival at site the driver will be required to report to Goods Inwards. This is at the far end of the building (second Entrance) and is clearly sign posted. It is not permitted for commercial vehicles to enter the offices car park (First Entrance).
3. At the Goods Inwards entrance, drivers are to ring the bell and wait in the entrance for assistance. It is strictly forbidden for an un-authorised person to enter the warehouse.
4. On receipt of your delivery paperwork, the driver will be informed of when they should expect to be unloaded. Drivers should return to their vehicle and wait for their slot.
The following is required on the delivery paperwork: -
• RS SALES purchase order number
• RS SALES product code
• Description
• Quantity delivered
Incorrect documentation or no documentation will result in delays or refusal of delivery.
5. Products on mixed pallets must be clearly segregated.
6. Refused products will be returned on the delivery vehicle.
The main reasons that could result in refusal of goods are: -
• Unsafe load
• Damages
• Non-segregated mixed pallets
• Incorrect product
• Incorrect pack size
